Stock Audio Question

Does anyone know how much the S5(if there's a diff) stock radio without the equilizer option can load, speaker wattage wise? I was looking into replacing my speakers before I buy a new dash unit. I found THESE for my rear speakers to gine you an idea.

There's no point in using the stock radio. It's 16 years old... Technology has progressed, just a bit.

Stock speakers can handle 15W max, so I doubt the radio put out anything more than 15Wx4...

And now I want those speakers...

Well, my birthday is coming up and I wanted my Girlfriend to have sumthing to get me without costing an arm and a leg for her. So I thought speakers would be a good step, becuase the Dash unit I want costs 350 bucks, but it's worth it. The dash unit looks like the stock one and it's double din like it to, but with a display screen ipod ready, xms radio or watever, etc.

The stock radio "should" just make it where the speaker run at only 15watt rms, but I wanted to see if anyone has done this and see if there was any speaker damage invovled.

yea man. my radio's ****.
can't see the screen,
speakers sound like paper when you turn up the bass.
so i could only listen to the radio "bass-free" to keep from getting annoyed.
sad thing too, it's orginally the GTU model, therefore, cassette tapes are my best friends.

gotta get myself that tape adapter for my CD player.
can't wait to replace that crap.

stock stereo only puts out 15 watts per channel because there were amps for the speakers.
one under the dash, and one at each speaker in the back. stock amps are crap.
pull them out stuff some insulation in the holes ( back speakers ) and put in your new ones.
whatever wattage you care for.

Agreed. Put an aftermarket amplifier in there if you actually want to hear the new speakers. I personally put in 8 additional speakers to the stock 8 and added two amplifiers. End result: it sounds amazing. Even with an aftermarket radio providing around 22w rms to each speaker it doesn't allow it to nearly reach its potential.

with an aftermarket radio you dont have to put in another amplifier. i personally dont care for adding a 4 channel. it would just take up space. start with the speeakers if they'll make you happy.
