Stinky Clutch
For the first time since I bought this car (4 months ago) I took it out and really played with it this afternoon. After a few hard launches though I noticed soime clutch slip, thought it was slipping the tires but the smell convinced me otherwise.
After driving around a while I stopped and did a few more hard launches and everything seemed to be fine. Is teh stock clutch known for getting hot and slipping or is this a sign that I may be in need of a new clutch before long?
Any suggestions on an aftermarket setup that works well and is still very streetable? I don't want something that grabs really fast and won't let go.

its not much but,....
I'm not to good w/the mechanicals of this car myself. But I do believe that yes the stock clutch does slip when hot. As far as what to replace it with, definately not centerforce!!!! I've seen countless horror stories about c.force clutches failing, and failing bad at that!!! I'de say act or any other dependable clutch maker should do. The bonez clutch i hear is decent. Check out rx7.com(high prices, but good to see whats available),or mazdatrix.com. If not wait patiently for some more posts, hopefully I wont be the only one!

CAP clutch. 15% stronger than stock, and for only $130.60 (including shipping) for pp, friction plate, and both bearings. www.capclutch.com part #10-038. Cheap, but if I had the $$ at the time, I would've gotten a Bonez Street/Strip, or a Clutch Masters Stage 2 www.clutchmasters.com

An old worn clutch is likely to slip. A burnt clutch is really likely to slip. A new clutch that is not used properly will burn too. I find it is better to spin the tires than slip the clutch at high rpm. MY .02
