still unclear. about air pump and other air related hoses to cat

i made a block off plate for what i thought was the egr for my 87 t2. the line was a steel line that was about 2ft long and then a small 6 in rubber tube was clamped to it. the top of the tube was bolted to the passenger side of the uim and right above some of those spider lines (steel vaccum lines) and the other end was dangling under the car near the pre cat. i thought that it was the non existant egr cuz it wasnt attached to the air pump . and since i have a mid pipe i no longer have a cat. i have a small pre cat . thats about it . well i posted a pic and description no one seemed sure. ill post the pic again

as for the air pump on the s4 t2
what is this used for besides emissions?,, anything else ??? also does the t2 need back pressure to open any ports?? im completly confused about the whole sitution. ive pretty much pulled off just about everything on my s5 na . but the s4 t2 is a different ball game . just wanna know if im hurting or losing power if there isnt enough back pressure to open a port of some kind. and or is i can remove the air pump , and free up some space in the engine bay if its not doing anything. here is the pic again

air pump = smog pump... worthless. remove it LoL... then just plug up where it goes...
egr has to do with EXHAUST.... look on the zost header...

The EGR valve is right in the middle of the metal vacuum lines (rats nest). It can be removed along with its selenoid and blocked off. The air control valve is on the LIM wich is of course on the passenger side and can be removed and blocked off.

It pumps air into the cats for, well I believe, preventative maintence so to say, and also helps reduce emissions.
As far as I know, there are no ports to open on a T2 in regards to the ACV. Correct me if im wrong, but im like 90% positive the T2 only has 4 ports, not 6 (2 aux) with the N/A.

The EGR for a tubo, series four, is on the back of the lower intake manifold. Its held on with two 12mm socket size nuts.

In your picture, you have successfully removed the Split Air Pipe, a part of the emissions system.

The airpump injects air into the EXAUST PORTS when the ACV schedules it to do so. At other times the airpump air is injected into the Split Air Pipe by the ACV.

The airpump, ACV, splitair pipe have squat to do with the normal running of the engine. The only time you might miss it is during deceleration or emissions testing. During deceleration it injects air into the INTAKE port to prevent small backfires. You won't notice it missing.

You will miss the airpump's pulley during hard acceleration. The water pump NEEDS this airpump pulley so the water pump's belt won't slip at high rpms. Aftermarket dual pulley's are available at Mazdatrix for cheap.

No extra ports etc to worry about. Only emissions and slippage of the waterpump at high revs.

ok ,, cool . i was worried about pulling something off that wasnt suppose to be off. as for the air pump i guess ill hold on to taking that out till i can get the dual pulley. thanks
