Keep her running!
I could really care less about the numbers now... I know they're low, and it would just kill it. Like an STD test, ya know? Haha, totally kidding. Before I swap it out I could if one's handy. I've got a buddy with a ghetto one that reads close to accurate.

And if this could get moved to the tech section that'd be great... Not really a questioning thread anymore.

Just curious Brett - out of all the updates you did, how much money and how much time do you have in doing them? What could you have bought with that money? I personally would've found a different car, but that's just me.

Yes, I used a banjo bolt and 2 crush washers- there's a thread in the archives that says everything you need for it. Not too hard either, just a few bolts, vacuum lines, and cables.

It's a hobby, and I honestly can't justify any of the money, but if you ask any other car freak out there they've done the same thing. And why not this car? It's got high mileage and the chassis is worn, but it's nothing that can't be fixed. I've got maybe $3000 in the car, but I've bartered and traded and found good deals everywhere. And if I decide to part with it, nearly everything I've done to it can be swapped over to another FC. It's my thing, man, I've got no regrets.

But this car's fun- it still needs a little bit of work like paint and some new bushings all around, and then the work I've got planned for it once it's parked for a while. Once that's done, it'll be just fine. Just what would you have suggested I done?

Well not all of us can afford 4K cars while in college, so oh well. I'm perfectly fine with working to make my car look good, and I think I've done a decent job over the 4 years I've owned mine.

I think you made the right choice!

I also feel that there is a lot more to a car than a $$ return number... modifying a car is never about how much money you can get back out of it, it's all about having fun.

It still shocks me that Brett's car still runs as well as it does. I vote for 300k THEN we'll swap in that other motor...

Not only do I vote for taking it to 300k, but I vote that when it hits 300k he and I make a video similar to that convertible torture vid... But we'll make sure the oil and coolant is fresh and secure before holding it foot to the floor until it blows.

When we can blow the motor apart and make book ends with it! lol

Got 253k on my 88SE. Original seals. My goal was to hit 300k, but alas, I have the tell tale signs of a coolant seal going out

Screw it, try that headgasket repair trick. Just loop the heater hose line first. At 253,000mi on the engine cant seen much being reusable in a rebuild, what much is there to lose?

Hmm... I vote no

I snapped an odometer picture yesterday, and tried making a little video but failed miserably. So all I have to show is the picture...

The first one I ever took (which was a few hundred more than when I bought it) and then the one from yesterday.

And I'm still getting crazy in it...

This was supposed to be an autocross sort of event, but it turned into a 'lets get crazy and just beat the living hell out of our tires' event This was about two weeks ago...
