Still flloods on secondary start

Okay people I need some brain storming ideas.
The compression is good even bumps all way around about 110 each chamber. Injectors are used but spray fine.
New coolant sense also used but tests fine.
The ALWAYS starts on a primary
However if its below zero out it tends to flood on a secondary start and I notice it doesn't get up to normal run 1/3, it gets to about 1/4 up on the gage.
I have a Koyo rad as well if that has anything to do with it. Could it be a bad thermostat?
My mechanic thinks it could be timing? the car runs fine when it start clean burn no after pop could bad timing cause flooding on a secondary start?

I really don't want to put in a cut off swich as that doesn't fix the problem just gives me a work around

Thanks guys

How do you know the injectors spray fine?

When is the last time the car had a full tuneup?

Has the ECT been tested?

The car had a full tune up in December when the new motor went in. As for the injectors, we pulled them all and cranked it and they sprayed normally. Is there a chanced they can leak even if they spray normally?

What is the ECT?

Thanks

Yeah! Send them to witchhunter or something to get em cleaned! Their place does it the best, and it's only $18 per injector!

My car is doing almost exactly the same thing right now.

Cleaning them won't really help if they are leaking.

How can I check to see a injector is leaking? I know they spray okay but I guess they can still be leaking.

Well, it depends on if the type of leak! They dont just "Clean" em, they also replace a buch of little crap inside.

Do you know why injectors leak in the first place? It's because the fuel deposits build up on the tip of the needle over time, and kinda "force it" to stick open and not close all the way. This requires ultrasonic cleaning. Go to that website, and read the FAQ and the rest. Even if you dont use their services, the info is free!

Okay I see what your saying but wouldn't an injector spray strange if it was clogged or stuck open. Like putting your finger in the garden hose? What is the best way to check if an injector is stuck open? So I don't send off my injectors for nothing.

It seems to flood more when it’s below zero out, which makes me think its stuck in cold start on secondary start ups. As also as I mentioned before the car doesn’t warm up to operation temp EVER if it’s below zero, could be a bad temp sensor or bad thermostat. The car has always had flooding problems when its cold out this was with the old motor, and has intensified since the new motor was installed.

If I go and start the car a minute to 5 minutes after shut off it will more then likely start up, cold or warm outside, starts better when warm out side though.

If I leave the car sitting for 10-30 minutes it mostly likely floods, which leads me to think leaky injectors, floods more when cold outside.

And my mechanic thinks that if the timing is off it could also make it flood, Fuel being injected after burn is sitting and making it flood. But the car runs butter smooth and not like crap so that makes me think the timing is okay.

Someone please help me!!!!

You can't tell visually if an injector is spraying wrong unless it is really poor. Dirty injectors will continue to drip after the engine is shut off and flood it out under the right conditions.

It's best to have those injectors professionally cleaned. Check the Yellow Pages for the local injection shop. Might have to look under "diesel injection" as most diesel shops will also have a gas cleaning rig.

ECT = Engine Coolant Temp sensor.

It's doubtful the timing is off unless someone has played around with the position of the CAS. The ECU reads the position of the engine via the CAS and timing is done purely in software. Your "mechanic" should read up on modern engine management systems and figure out that software does not "drift" like an old dizzy setup would.
