Question Sticking apex seal?

I am looking at buying a secondhand s/4 turbo motor (jap one), it has a extrend port and has done about 10k mileage wise. The only problem is the ad say's it has a rear apex that is sticky. But comprssion is 120 psi on both housings.

I have had a search but don't find what it exactly means (sticky apex seal) and what the hell is ATF. I thought it was Auto Trans Fuild ??????? Right or wrong.

Cheers

well an apex seal is pushed outward from the rotor buy a spring to keep it in contact with the housing surface. When he says that its sticky i think he means that it is stuck in and not being pushed outward. people usually solve this and other internal cleanliness issues witht he atf treatment. As far as Ive heard you dc your injectors and plugs and squirt automatic transmission fluid into your 2 rotor housings then turn it over a few times with everythign dc and let it sit overnight. when you run ti in the mornign there should be alot fo white smoke thta will end eventually. This should clean things out decently. im gonna look for a link to a detailed writeup for you

OK i just tried to look up a step by step for this trick and came upon a page about the risks of it destroying your oil seals, so i advise you to ignore my earlier post and not to eve rput atf in your engine overnight. But if the compression is 120 like you say then you really have no problem.
