stereo power problems

stereo power problems

well tonight i shut my car off and locked the doors and went to get out and when i did so the stereo, amp, and phone charger came on with the keys in my pocket!! i have no idea whats going on its the 1st time it has done it and i havent messed with any of the stereo stuff in over a year i had to pull out the room fuse and the cig lighter fuse to get it to go off any ideas where to start? thanks eric

you burned a wire somewhere, check your modifed wires

yep, probably wired wrong or you have a bad ignition switch (either way turning the radio itself off should have temporaly fixed the problem... you do know that radios have off button's right???)

And no bumps 1RX7DRIVER... bumps are forbidden here and will be deleted when found.

yeah i do know that they have on/off buttons thanks. but thats not going to help my cig lighter or my amp now is it? im going to rewire everything here in about half hour when it cools down out.

heh, and I would think unplugging something from the cig. lighter would be easier than pulling a fuse.. but I don't know about the amp, I'm considering putting a manual switch on the line going to my amp in case I ever want to turn it off when the stereo is on.

it was easyer for me to pull the fuese so i wouldnt have to worry about anything. anyways i went out and re-wired everthing and when i went out to go to work today when i put the fueses in everything worked fine so i dont know what happend but its all fixed now

well if you amp was installed correctly, it will only be on when the radio is on...

hench... radio off = amp off

that would still leave the cig lighter that wont turn off when i turn the radio off will it? i didnt want power running to it 24/7.

unless the cig lighter was plugged into the heat postion, there would be no current draw.
