FLAME ON!!!! can i beat an evo????

hey i havent been to the dyno yet but im going to run some evos sooner than later.... i have a wideband so i have the car tuned to run no less than 11.8 and no more then 10.6afr. (still tuning for a flat line) i have a bnr stage 3, 750 primaries, 860 secondaries, stock IC, 2.5 exhaust. ( i know my exhaust and IC suck) im running about 12.2 lbs on the street in second gear.. turbos kinda laggy.... i think thats how an evo will take me ..the LAG, i dont see 12lbs in first ever. i hit 11lbs at 6500, the shift point.. the following gears are all decent. stock ports too.... so can i run a stock evo?or will i embarass myself stepping to an evo.. its a fresh rebuild about umm 8k on it

You'll take a stock EVO 8, IMO.

But then again, I've never ridden in your car... Freeway would be the desired race location. Does your car not feel that fast?

Maybe post this in the lounge or 'kills' section?

everyone says my car is fast as hell i say its slow as ****... i did make her break traction at 65-70mph on stock turbo prespooling on bald tires... scared myself the stock turbo saw 17.3lb spike on that night doh.... since i got the bnr seems to be a lil slower.. i have been slowly upping the boost but bryan at bnr said dont go higher than 13 so im not..... so im at 12.9 muhahaha.

you have a chance, if i can beat a 462cui nova with less mods, i'm sure you can compete with an evo....

i can walk an STi from a roll on....

The EVO8 will smoke you from a standing start all the time.

You may have a chance once you get into the higher gears. Since an evos got a six speed and awd, he will launch off the start faster than you will for sure.

Heh, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe I am..No EVO except the MR is 6 speed. And no EVO pre-2004(2005?) had a 6 speed.

Sorry, I assumed he was talking about just evo 8's. It might just be in the mr but I thought all evo 8's had 6. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Just checked to make sure. And yes, only the MR comes with a 6 speed. All STi's have 6 speeds. EVO's will take a T2 from a standstill much easier then the STi, as the STi has to shift into 2nd at something like 45-50 mph. EVO not until 55-60.

sweet i went to the track today and aparently i need to relearn my car again i spun out 3 times......i went out with the intention to kick some porsche *** instead.... my own car kicked my *** after the rebuild of rear suspension and bigger turbo..... anyways everyone sitll thinks my car is fast so im going to shut up and ride and deem it FAsT... i need new engine/tranny mounts after today so im going to lay back on the racing evos..... im so jealous of the brakes on them

Get a real intercooler and you will have much the potential for much, much more power. What were your trap speeds at the track?

evo vs. modded rx7...... depends on the skills of the driver! thats what its all about!

give me a stock 91 na fc, and put me up against someone who cant drive his evo worth a crap, and ill whoop his ****! put my turbo up against someone w/ some skill, and thats a race.....put me up against someone who know his car as much as i know mine.... and i dont really stand a chance! its all driver skill and knowledge of what your driving

alot of people buckle under pressure...and thats when you miss-shift, get a bad start, shift too early..etc....
