Thumbs down Stereo cutting out...

Well, I posted a similar thread about 2 months ago. I fixed the first problem. It was poor grounding. The other problem has gotten worse. Any movement and the HU cuts out. I move it slightly again, and *POP* it goes back on.

as you can see, the wiring was done neatly  ...
Can someone tell me what the s5 wire colors? I guess I'm going to resolder my connections.... grrr..... anything else it could be?

The S5 stereo wire colors are the same as the S4 colors which have been posted so many times it is not even funny... You may wish to search both here and in the interior exterior /audio section using my name and the words "radio wires".

From your description, you have not wired past any factory amps or have a blown speaker, or poor connections that are shorting out in the dash (Black tape connections are some of the worst, as many cheaper brands of black tape often are high in materials that will eat copper).

you could have a bad receiver too though. If its overheating, it will shut off for a minute or the grounding wire IN the receiver could be bad. Thats what happened to me and I swore it wasnt the problem cause it was a NEW deck. But, it was though...

Sounds like the unit is toast. Pull out a multimeter and check for 12v on yellow and 12v on red while the car is on (yellow and red on that smartharness). If it gets that on both, shake the hell out of that harness, and if it still gets power, it's the unit. Sounds ghetto, but hey, it works. What kind of stereo is it BTW.
