Exclamation About a 1986 N/A RX-7

Hey I got a question about a '86 N/A. Im thinking about buying one from this lady, but I have a question about Reliability. Im already spending most of my money on getting a cat for it, and I don't have any more money to spend after that. I need to be sure that this car can last me another year or two before anything major can be done for it, like major repairs that is. The car has 156k miles on it, and is a 13B engine, moderately driven, not hard that is. Anyone have suggestions and/or comments?

you would want to avoid any 10+ year old car if you do not want to worry about things breaking.

That would go for the same for any car with over 50K miles on it.

I see, well as long as it can last me like three months or so, I should be good, but I guess I will take it to a mechanic and see what he has to say. How much does a 20b engine go for these days anyways? Im thinking I can get the car and if it lasts until then, drop a 20b in it, I have the necessary toold, even the engine lift.

Sorry to say this, but if you are worried about things breaking on a $1500 car, and the costs of that... well a 20B swap is probably above your abilities and pocket book.

On average a 20B swap will be around $10K including the well used motor, aftermarket ECM and tuning.

I see, just trying to get an idea of what I am working with. It doesn't look really good for the future of this car, but who knows. Maybe something will work out.
