Hey guys..i have a 90' gtu i just bought...only thing that was done to the car to my knowledge was it had the bonez superflo' exhaust put on with the stock cat-back. How reliable is supercharging a n/a rx7 and what all should i do b4 supercharging the car...also what are some opinions on what super charger to use...i'm looking to get 250-275hp out of the car

well, since the paxton blower setup isnt available anymore... the only custom made kit is the atkins blower... and thats gonna run you about 3000 bucks for all the parts you need.

or you could buy some other type of supercharger (i would recomend a positive displacement, since they will make more boost at low rpm's) and try to rig something up... if you do go that route let us know how it goes and what you did

any forced induction system is putting more stress on the engine, its a price you pay for having more performance.

but an atkins blower should get you up that high, if you can aford the pricetag

ok so $3000 or so for the supercharger...what other mods would i need to do before strapping this thing on? Fuel issues, drivetrain, ecu, etc?

well, fuel issues are taken care of when you install it... since as of now the only option with it is to go carbed... you get a 4 barel holly carb, and a low pressure fuel pump, and thats basicaly it, you ditch the intake manifold and fuel injection and the stock throttle body and all that

www.camdensuperchargers.com i think is the site, if not there is a link from www.atkinsrotary.com

i think they are are coming out with a system that uses the stock fuel injection (i think with a few lil mods) preety soon, you might want to ask about it

but first things first to get power out of it you wanna pull off anything stock in the exaust... headers, no cats (if you can), presilencers, highflow mufflers

i have the mazdatrix racingbeat true dual exaust... i like it, a lot of noticeable power out of it... www.mazdatrix.com

also, im sure a lot of people are going to tell you to just do the turbo swap... it ends up costing about the same... and personaly i would prefer to have boost all the time (aka supercharged) rather than just in the higher rpm's like with a turbo... since the low rpm's are where the engine needs the most help

Personally what would you compare the true duals to sound similar too? I am seriously considering this but if noise will be too loud I wont get it. Could you pick something to compare it too at idle and through the whole power band?
Thanks in advance.

Well on friday me and MAX are putting on his headers(collected) I have the True Duals. I will compare the two for you. The sond IMO is great. at idle you can say it is like stock. same for cruising speeds. If your on it it WIL get loud above 3500. Wankel7 and MAX-IMAL have listened to my exhaust. PM them for their oppinions on it.

Super charge

By the time you hit 7Ib. you will probabily break at least two apex seals with 9.7 to 1 comp. rotors. and to get 250hp you need a lot more than 7Ib. with a supercharger.

i dissagree... first off with higher compression engines you can run less boost, and there are plenty of high compression boosted engines... it just requires more / better tuning. and since a n/a can get to around 200 flywheel with just bolt ons (headers, no cats, free flow exaust, cold air intake) i dont think 250 would be hard at all boosting

They (atkins rotary) recommends using the 8.5:1 compression rotors from the S4 turbo motors. I called them the other day and talked to them about my setup and what else I would need to use their supercharger. I never had problems talking to them, so give'm a call. I plan on using a street port TII with 8.5:1 compression, heat treated stationary gears, Racingbeat exhaust (header, straight pipe, presilencer, y pipe and Apexi N1 mufflers) and I'm not sure what carb I will use. They don't have anyway to keep the fuel injected system with the supercharger that i know of. The carb they dyno tested with was a 390cfm at about 10 lbs of boost with the 7inch supercharger and got in the mid 270s for HP. 170s to 180s for torque. it wouldn't be advised to slap one of these on a motor and run it ***** to the wall. Better to have a motor put together with a SC in mind. Since you won't have the fuel injectors, they said that I could use a 1st gen distributor and get rid of the crank angle sensor and ecu since the only other thing it would control would be the ignition.

browse there site and if you have any questions call them.
I never got a reply from any emails so I always call.
