steering wheel shaking

when i drive at high speeds, about 60mph or so, my wheel starts to shake. I don't think that it is my wheel bearings bc they were changed less than a year ago. I was wondering if it might be unbalanced wheels since the place that I went to get tires installed is a little greasy. The vibration seems more when I turn, and more when I turn left than turn right. Help

yeah, proper whell balancing is important, costly too if not done youre tires will wear, along with your front end components as well. I used to work winters in a tireshop and we always balanced all the tires on the computer assisted balancer. if not balanced, they can cause vibrations and oscillations that you will be able to detect while driving. Please go get ur wheels balanced, you might have paid for it at the tireshop already, u should be able to have them rebalanced at that shop for free. Aftert hat, get front end alignment if u can, it will help with wear of those components too.

Take care, happy new years.....

a lot of the small tire shops use junk balancers. i got a set balanced once and the vibrations got worse..
i like les schwab (the one here at least). their machine not only reads the overall balance, but also inside/outside balance, so they mount weights all over the place for a really smooth spin.
you could also have a bent wheel. took me a year after hitting a curb to realize that was the problem :-)
