Steering Wheel removal... need help

I am trying to remove my steering wheel on my 1987 TII. I have removed the horn buttons and the center cap as well as the bolt in the middle. I am now to the point where I do not know how to get the rest of the wheel off. Does anyone have a good write up for this I dont want to have to put it back together. Thanks

yea, leave on the huge nut about 4 threads so when your pulling on that **** you dont pop it off and break your nose like so many of us have lol. Also make sure the wheels are straight when you take off the wheel.

Put one hand on each side of the steering wheel--at 9:00 and 3:00 o'clock. Pull the wheel towards you and alternatively apply a little more pull with each arm while maintaining the pull with the other arm as well. Kind of like wiggle it back and forth.

Like the other poster said, make sure your wheels are straight and that you don't move the wheels while you have the steering wheel off. I had to remove the steering wheel a couple of times when I reinstalled it in order to get it straight with the front wheels.

Nest time, mark the hub and spindle splines with a red magic marker before you remove. Line up the marks when re-installing. Saves a lot of trial and error.
