5-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of steering sensor signal: Steering sensor is mis-aligned or failed or steering wheel has been improperly installed.

where is the steering sensor? i kinda tooled around underneath the dash yesterday and saw nothing. is it right next to the steering wheel? like behind it? or is it in the engine bay? please help. the 5 beeps are making me want to blow my brains out every time i drive. thanks.

The steering wheel attaches to it with the steering column.

Did you swap or change the steering wheel recently?

There are two plastic tabs that stick up from the sensor's bushing. Those must align with the two matching holes in the back of the steering wheel or the aftermarket steering wheel adapter. If you didn't align them, then chances are you crushed the tabs.

With any luck you will be able to take the steering wheel back off, bend the tabs back up and then re-install the steering wheel...However if you really crushed them back, then you will need to replace the bushing.
