steering rack question

steering rack question

hey guys im installing a rebuilt steering rack and im inserting it to lower universal joint,
its just the top portion thats fits in correct?, it stops where the o-ring is suppose to be on the steering rack,
just want to make sure it doesnt have to go all the way through

i was able to install it correctly,
Does anyone know what the thead count should be for the Tie Rods, the haynes doesnt tell me what thread number should the tie rods be on

Thread them about half way on, then visually make sure the tires are straight and if not adjust them. This will allow you to drive to a LOCAL alignment shop and have them align the front end.

Not all tie rods have the same number of threads so its relatively impossible to give a number. I prefer to measure them prior to removal (I.e. length from inner tie rod jam nut to end of outer casting). Then reassemble in the same length but regardless it'll need an alignment but like others have said it'll be close enough to drive to your local alignment shop
