States Emission test ?
I want to know if the rotary's are suppose to pass these emission test damn good or very bad? I passed mine with flying numbers and the guy said it was the best damn numbers he ever seen, even compared to new vehicles. I ask this because I had a friend tell me that he use to own several 7's and said that's a bad sign and that they're not suppose to pass good and suppose to bearly pass and if it passed damn good like mine then that the air/fuel ratio is wrong and it's going to kill the motor. Is this true or BS? He has me worried about the motor now. BTW does anyone know what an 88 RX-7 GXL 5-sp. is good for in the 1/4 mi. in stock forum? Thanks guys and gals.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
Actually the S4 cars are very clean... even cleaner that the S5 and S6 cars...
I wouldn't worry either... it just means that you have treated your car well and the engine is in tip top shape.
If you are really concerned about a bad mixture, check your spark plugs... if they are burnt up, well... then worry.
And stock typically the S4 GXL did around a 16 second quarter. Sometimes a little lower, sometimes a lot higher... depends on the driver.

I just looked on the TX DPS web site and it seems like emissions testing is only required in these counties: Dallas, Tarrant, Harris & El Paso, Denton and Collin. Also, there are some exemptions (no joke):
1. motorcycles
2. Vehicles registered antique or circus
3. Vehicles required to display a slow-moving vehicle emblem

Well I just moved out of Burleson to Ft. Worth and in Johnson county there was no emissions, but in Tarrant "yes". It's like were the major cities are. Johnson and a lot of other counties that don't have it now will begin it in May of '03. It doesn't matter were you get your inspection as long as it has the emissions test, if you go to a county with out emissions for the inspection they require a proof of residents in the county so it won't let the out of county guys that can't pass emissions pass just the inspection and only like $13.
Thank you everyone for the replies. I kind of thought it was BS and guess I'm right. Now about the spark plugs icemark, they're brand spankin' new.
