When I did some engine work a few weeks back, I took off a vaccuum hose to get to the VDI easier. When I tried to crank the engine, I forgot to replace the vaccuum hose, and it acted EXACTLY like your description. Revved to 3k, then just died. Double, triple, quadruple check those lines. I bet that is your problem. Good luck!

I've got that same problem two times now. First time I forgot to reconnect the airflow sensor and the second time I forgot to connect the little airtube that goes from the large airtube (the one between the airfilter and the throttlebody) through the throttlebody to the bac.

You are right about the green connector, it doesn't need to be connected, it's for checking the TPS settings.

Marco.

It dosen't help that there are about a hundred vaccuum lines on the damn engine, and any one of them can get cracked or can pop off. Good luck!!
