starts but then dies superfast
my nephews 87rx7 turbo starts revs to about1500 rpm then it dies. fuel pump working and has fire. relays and solenoids good. was wondering if it was cpu. we just changed alternator now it won't start and stay running. i don't know anything about rotary engine but my nephew is dying to get his car on road. all help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a problem with the mass air flow sensor, check and make sure all the wiring is plugged into it. It's the little metal part that the air filter hooks onto. Also, check for vacuum leaks in the intake.

Yeah, HUGE intake leak somewhere...
Check to make sure the turbo inlet duct is secure on the AFM and the turbo itself.  Check to see if the intercooler clamps are secure.  Check that stupid 5/8" hose under the BAC is still connected and CLAMP IT!

update on no start
all acuum lines look good and all connections are connected. the engine cranks starts but does not run except for about one second. i pulled plugs out and they were flooded. cleaned all plugs ad removed breaker and cranked engine to remove excess fuel. reinstalled plugs and still did same thing. fuel must be getting dumped in engine because cat is leaking fuel out and plugs get soaked all over again. i am getting fire to plugs. but way to much fuel for some reason. my nephew is pretty depressed. all help is appreciated. thanks for all replies.

the history on the car is my nephew bought it 4 days ago. second day driving it is when the alt went out. nothing underneath was touched except starter removed for troubleshooting purposes.the starter was reinstalled. i even tried push staarting it with my truck and it didn't start. i thing it may be e.c.u. but i don't even know what that is. I think when battery got hooked up backwards it could have blown the e.c.u.
