If the start problem is occuring while the engine is at operating temperature, this is a known problem with RX-7's after the wear on the apex seals causes a drop in compression. It does not mean you have too low compression, it is just lower than new. If it happens cold, there is a known bug in the ECU that causes the engine to run rich after a cold start and shut off before the engine reaches operating temperature.

For the second problem, you may have a slight vacuum leak or your fast idle may be misadjusted. Also, if you did the throttle body mod, this will always happen, since you removed the fast idle linkage from the throttle body.
