stock turbo seals?

hey i was just wondering how many pounds of boost the stock seals of turbo rx-7s can handle before blowing the engine. also would it be cheaper getting an engine rebuilt before or after blowing it?or does it not make a difference

People that drag race professionally mostly use 2MM seals (stock size) maximun boost is really dependant on your engine management and fuel system setup.

It is by far cheaper usually to rebuild before blowing the motor. Once that happens, you are almost assured a new housing will be on order $$$

You could get ceramic seals, but be aware that they cost like $250-$300 EACH, and you need 6 per motor. Here is a good info link, with different seals and prices.

If done properly, boost doesent really matter. I beleive BOOSTD7 was making about 330 hp on 9psi of boost. With the right turbo, and engine management boost is irrelevant.

AMEN, unless you are trying to make insane HP, like four didgits before the HP (dats 1000HP) from a 13B then the stock 2mm seals are all good for your application. Its a matter of spending the money in the right places - engine management system, one that is really up to the task. - Fuel delivery system, one that can flow what you are aiming for at 80% duty cycle - tuning, so it doesn't lean out.
