starting issue
86 GXL
HAs compression, gets gas, has spark..engine wont fire up.....
previous owner claimed there was a possible water leak into #1....but Im not sure of his knowledge of rotarys.
has been sitting for 1 yr.....bad gas maybe???
any suggestions appreciated.

I would try some new gas first.
From personal experience with an engine with a blown water seal, those things sound right. I had gas, compression, and spark but it would start. Look in the water resevor or the radiator cap, as you crank (obviously need two people.) If the water is bubbling your in craps ville. If thats the case its probably on the exhaust side, and you'll need a rebuild or junkyard engine.
