Starting the FC project....some Q's
Hey guys, got a few questions. I'm finally starting to tear in to the FC I got from Garfinkle. I was at his house the other day, and he was throwing some ideas at me. So here it goes.
1) I'm going for a TII conversion. Now, will anyone take my NA long block as a core exchange for a TII long block? This would make things easy for me, plus someone will have a good core (rear rotor lost compression) to rebuild. Also I would send the ECU, and I actually have a spare ECU (with test tag still attached, its good).
2) Garfinkle offered up his stock FD intercooler for the project. I won't be going for big boost or HP numbers, so would this be a good/feasible option. (I want to keep the NA hood )
3) He also offered his FD wheels, he'll make me spacers for the rear. Now I know I'll need longer studs. I work for Advance Auto, and we don't have anything that would crossover (same knurl, shoulder length, but longer threads.) I even called our vendor and they had nothing for me. So what do you out there who have them use. Part numbers appreciated.
After all that, I'm keeping it black, so what are the possibilities of powdercoating the IC black (for stealth), and I was thinking of having the wheels redone in black, and having the lip polished. Just an idea (anyone want to photoshop?)
Give me ideas!!!!!!! No massive power numbers, but solid power RELIABLE.

I was thinking that. But I'm not planning on running alot of boost or anything. I was just wondering if using the FD IC would be better than the stock TII TMIC. Like I said I would prefer to use the NA hood. If it flows the same or marginally better than the stock TII, then thats all I need.

So knowbody knows the lug stud size to run FD wheels? Odd since I have seen alot on here. Anybody with any other idea, help whatever. I know there are alot of TN people here I would like to meet and get feedback from. Also a little help would be great. Garfinkle is a great man and has offered to help do alot of things. I can't offer $$$$$, but I can get a 20% discount on auto parts. Unfortunately, most of those parts aren't for RX-7's.

Do a light flywheel for sure, if you can find one. I wanted to get one for my NA before putting my street port back together, but no one wanted to sell me one. There is a reason for this! They free up a lot of power in first and second gear from 4000 rpm up (basically the sweet spot of the power band).
