Starter Issues revisted.
Starter Issues revisted.
Well I figured out whats wrong with my starter and did a search for some info but I didn't find anything. Ok so the car has a brand new starter on it. Sometimes when I get in and try to start it it wont crank the car. I figured out to fix this all I have to do is put the car in gear and roll it a little to move the flywheel a little. I guess what is happening is the bendix is not being allowed to engage so the magnetic switch isn't traveling enough to engane the starter switch. This seems like it might be an alignment issue. Or perhaps the flywheel gear ring has some bad spots on it. Has anyone heard of this happening before or do any of you know of a thread that might give me some help? Is it possible the starter alignment can be adjusted or will I have to fudge it a little?
On a side note I hat ******* who buy nice cars and work on them knowing nothing about the cars. I did the 60k tuneup on sunday. Well the trailing plugs were in the leading side and vice versa. There were two dry wall screws put into one of the inside fender to hold something there. There were a bunch of electrical plugs underneath the car left unplugged. There is a nut missing from a exhaust flange. The plastics cover under the engine isn't there. The alram that was installed is just kinda jammed up under the stearing column. Its pretty weak. I'm just glad I have the chance to get it back to the right condition since the rx has a heritage and deserves to be preserved and I am able to work on it the right way.

Man that sucks. I hope you get that stuff straightened out. Theres a lot to be said for quality work. Whatever happened to old fashiond quality worksmenship? It's like everyone wants to do stuff the cheapest and easiest.
Hmm its looking like it may be a bad wire issue and the starter not being able to draw enough current. I put on some bling gold battery terminals last night and crimped on some new ring terminals and went for a spin a minute ago. It hit the spot like it wasn't going to engane but then it pushed through it and started cranking over. It did this twice. So I might just need to redo some wires.
