starter, ignition, or what?
Ok here is the deal, I came across a 87 Turbo II last week which is amazing. It has 94k original miles 1 owner by a very sweet old woman who bought it from her friend at 300 miles cause she couldn't shift with her carpotunnel.. Well heres where it gets interesting, the car has had 3k miles in the last 5 years and was owned by a aging person who wasnt meant to take care of this car so it lived in her garage. I have already fixed her horn, the washer pump (don't put rain-x in the washer reservoir and let it sit for a couple years it hardens and clogs the pump), and the tires. This car is original everything.. paint, motor, interior, stereo, even the speakers which all still work are the originals.
The problem I am concerned with is when I try and start the car sometimes it turns over, sometimes nothing... If I turn the key back to the point where i can remove it and turn it back to start it will normally start after 3-6 tries. So I was thinking it could be an issue with the contact in the key mechanism. Then today I had turned it to start, and for some reason I kept it turned and after about 1.5 seconds it just started.. I have never had a rotary before, so I don't even understand the starting mechanism, any advice would be great. Also if anyone knows anything else I should check or change I would appreciate it, the wires are brand new, but I am prolly going to pay someone to have the tune-up done since I have no clue on this motor.
Also if anyone knows a Mazda or RX-7 club, or a shop in Hawaii, prefer Oahu, it would really be appreciated.

yeah $2300 plus about $400 in registration fines cause it hasn't been registered in forever. I am really stuck on this car, I am an impact person.. I am pretty sure the last system install I did, 8 12" KICKER subs in a Scion XB, was the most subs installed in a scion to date.. the ReX was supposed to be our next project, yet it is in such good condition I am seriously considering keeping it all original. decisions, decisions...
