Question Starter?

I am having problems with my starter? It will occasionally work im not sure why im thinking it is bad wiring but im not sure. Right now i can here a click so its not the switch and there is power going to the starter because i can here it? Possibly the plunger is not ingaging to the flywheel? Any input wether its the starter or could it be something else.

Im kinda having the same prolbem, I've replaced the starter and it still does it. I think there is some other relay that may be going bad. I'll let you know if I figure it out.

i had the same problem with my 1984 as well and a new starter didnt make much of a differnence?
I talked to my mechanic, he has a shop that specializes in only rx7s and he knows his stuff inside and out so he said he would take a look and see what it is? It might be a switch possibly but if i find out more i will post it for you.

My car seemed to not start about once a week. I got it checked out and I had already figured the Crank Angle sensor was bad, but I didn't want to replace it since I figured I'd have to get a new starter. Anyways... CAS was replaced and it's started every time with no problems (other than the usual ones of course ) Hope you find your problem man

If your starter motor appears to be dead and you know that the battery and connections are good, than you might want to check the starter interlock switch on the clutch pedal (assuming that you have a MT). The switch is normally open (NO) and is accuated when the clutch pedal is depressed. The arm on the pedal rests against the switch (under dash) when it is in up position.

I have already checked the switch that you are talking about and its working so there is power going to the starter when the clutch is depressed so thats not the problem. Im thinking that it might be my ground comeing of the starter so i will check and then post my results! thanks for th input!
