How is the hose when the car has sat overnight? It is supposed to maintain pressure until it cools off and the water contracts, and will eventually draw a vacuum and pull water from the overflow resevoir.

It could also just be a weak hose needing replacement. They tend to get very swollen and weak when they get old.

You mean the cap that you have on your filler neck? Yeah, you can leave it there.

thanks guys.
Block off plate? Do you have a pressure release cap and a hose that goes to an overflow/expansion tank?

The system should pressurize to 13 psi. Thermal expansion will cause coolant to flow into the overflow tank. When the system cools, the coolant to contract. This creates a vacuum that pulls coolant back into the system from the overflow tank.

Does this describe how your system is set up?

yes.. on the filler neck i put a piece of sheet metal shaped like the cap assembly piece then put the cap assembly on it because the plastic assembly was cracked and leaked .... and i do have a cap like this and i do have a hose to the overflow
