Stance or Tein?

Which would you prefer in general? I'm not too knowledgeable in performance coilovers for FC's, but I'm looking at two different FC's, and the only real difference is these coilovers. Thanks!

Those brands are really more for aesthetics than performance, so you may want to look at more meaningful differences if choosing between two cars. Be sure to read Aaron's buying guides if you are new to the FC:

Tein has been around longer and has a good reputation for reliability, and depending on the model, they've got some pretty good damping. I disagree that they're mostly for looks, people say that because the Flex have realisic spring rates and not the sky high, effectively solid rates some of the "high performance" ones use.

No, it's because they focus more on marketing and flashy looks than they do on quality control. There is nothing wrong with that for street, show, or drift cars, but you will not see any high-end race teams using Tein suspension components.

Okay, that's fine. I was under the impression that they were both pretty good quality shocks. It will be a street/drift car, so I'm not looking for anything too stiff.

but then again, we arent high-end race teams.. i do agree that the suspension should not be the deciding factor on the purchase of a car

well ya, I know that. But if the cars are close enough, and one has stock suspension for example, I'll take the one with the better coilovers. And I wanted to know what the concensus was as far as the two brands went.

I have Tein HE's and love em. Saying they are only for looks is a ridiculous statement. As a whole, yes Tein also offers products that serve little in the performance catagory, but to group all the products into that catagory is just false.

In the Miata world the Flex is the standard street/track setup, and most people are extremely happy with them. I personally know several people with them, I've driven one with them and they're all quite happy and they seemed quite good to me. Many have gotten theirs to last well over 30 000 miles without any issues. I've also seen shock dynos and they're pretty good, so I wouldn't say that they don't do QC well, it would seem to be quite the opposite.

Sure they don't do the really high end racing stuff, but that doesn't mean they don't do performance and they're all about looks.
