stalling

when i start the car, it will do the 3-2k rev thing (what's the point of that?) and then when it drops back down to normal idle it has a tendency to stall. i searched the forums and it sounds like i have a vacuum leak. but i want to see if maybe my exhaust could be the problem, because the guy that sold me the car said that it had an "exhaust problem" . some of the other symptoms, that i suspect are related, is that during idle the exhaust makes little low popping sounds, like the exhaust is hiccupping, when it does this the rpms drop for a split second. also sometimes during normal driving, when i disengage the clutch the rpms will drop way below idle and almost stall then come back up, and when it does this the exhaust makes an obnoxious rattling sound. any thoughts?

the revving to 3 k when you start it is the cold start assist, its supposed to help your engine warm up faster, but it just ***** it up. just tap the gas to make it stop.

sometimes when it was cold my car would stall after that, but if you just tap the gas a bit when the rpms drop really low and it looks like its gonna stall it willl fix it.

and my exhaust does the popping sound too, i think thats normal.

yea, same problem here, like sec said...just tap the gas and dont let it die. i dont think the popping and what not is SUPPOSED to happen...but it seems pretty normal amongst my fellow rx7-ers
