stalled project....engine protection

I seem to be stuck in a cycle of getting the money together to move foreword with my project just to have something shitty happen and have to put it on hold till i can get more money.

that is neither here no their however. My question is, Is there any extra steps I can take to ensure my new engine doesnt get rusted up or whatever nastyness may happen from sitting for a year or so.

right now the engine is installed, but the car is in one of those tent style portable garages. Needless to say it gets lots of moisture and temperature changes inside. The engine was rebuilt about 6 months ago and appeared to have plenty of whatever blue lube was used when it was assembled. I have all the ports and holes taped off tightly.

Is there anythign else I can do to keep her safe?

well my engine has been built since early 05 and the car still hasn't run. what i did i put trans fluid in the intake port and rotate the engine. then i stuff like rags or paper towel in the intake and exhaust ports there is no intake nor exhaust manifold on my engine. every now and then say once a month i'll just manually rotate the engine. that's what i've been doing hope to get mine running soon so if you're interested you probably can give me a hola in a month or so.
