SSQV not blowing off

Hello everyone,

I have the HKS SSQV on the FC, and well when i hit boost, i don't hear any surge...
but i don't hear any blow off sound also. There is an adjustment screw for the sound only (if u guys know the design, the screw does not affect how much pressure the BOV holds) so anyways, when i was adjusting, i unscrewed the whole screw out...(don't know if that makes a difference though)

the weird thing is that, I don't hear surge, but i don't hear the blow off too... i don't want my turbo to suffer (if there is surge but i don't know it).

so is there anything that is broken in the internals? or is the internals loose or something?
also, people with the SSQV, is it loud? i want to see if others don't hear it, or hear it alot to compare.

hope everyone understand the problem

The HKS SSQV is a fairly loud BOV and it's design makes it incapable of leaking I believe. Not sure if taking the screw out would have affected anything (maybe the spring has been displaced?). Anyways have you made sure you have a good independent vac source for the BOV?

i do, well with the same Vac source i used before it blew off, but also quite.

since it is on a iC piping and not a universal piping, i heard from my friend and other sources this would improve the efficency of the BOV

i'll try to tap the LIM block off plate i have for an independent vac source...

but even doing so, i don't know why it doesn't blow off at least like it used to...

also, is it hard to take it off the flange? i see a small C-ring holding it... so how would i take off the SSQV from the flange?

that screw basically changes the sound of the bov only

http://www.935motorsports.com/hksbov.htm

but i heard so much that this bov is VERY loud.... well not mine =P

i've even bought the purple insert for it, to see what difference would it make....
nothing for me =)
so i was wondering whats up

i've taken off the IC piping that has the BOV installed....
i saw that the vac nipple was bent....

would that afect it so much to make it not blow off?

by removing the screw you created a vacuum leak in the pull chamber causing the BOV to become inoperative, reinstall the screw a few threads tight and recheck it.

i see a plate at the back of the BOV, and if screwed in, it pushes this plate forwards...
so if i want even the loosest setting, i should push the plate in a little bit correct?

also, for people with the SSQV, (i know i say this alot, but now I am unsure what i say =) if i tighten the screw to its tighest setting, all the boost pressure will still leave the chamber and won't cause it to surge right?

"For most applications you want the loosest setting, which allows the bigger valve to open faster loosing all of the compressed air

If you adjust the bov more tight, the air will only come out of the small valve first, then the larger valve, depending on the tension. This will create a louder high pitched sound for the small valve, and a smaller deep pitched sound for the large valve. Some people like the bov tightened all the way for maximum "shreek" upon release."

so i can tighten the screw so i can "hear" the bov and make sure it doesn't surge right?

from the nipple below the BAC, where the PS gets the vaccum source,
but i put the BOV on the normal side of the T not the split, and i have a FCD so i do not have a pill in that line

Pull the line off the BOV while the engine is running / idling.
Do you feel suction on the line?
