SR Motorsports 9.5# flywheel

I was just wondering if their flywheels included a counterweight? On the website it doesnt specify between S4 and S5, so I was kind of confused.

Its been along time ... but I think I looked into that one and there was a problem. If I recall you don't get the teeth on the flywheel ... they expect you to transpant your old one. But im not to sure about the counter weight... I would assume there is none if they don't specify S4 & S5 .... I would sugest spending a few more dollars and get one you know is right. thats what I ended up doing. The price is great cause only half the **** is there.

check out rx7store.com, They have a 9# flywheel and clutch combo for cheap or you can by the flywheel seperately. It's a racing beat I believe.

I saw no real PERFORMANCE difference between the SR and the stock 24# T2 flywheel. your power curve is different but qtr mile speed the same.

It's that very same reason I opted to go with the RB Aluminum Flywheel. Everything Included In the package.

Although off topic, HUGE difference In both weight of the Flywheel and the feel of driving It. I beg to differ with It not being streetable. RPM's jolt up at a tap of the Throttle Pedal. A must for an na thats trying to squeeze out hidden HP.

Everything was included when I bought mine from SR. There follow-up was always really good as well as thier customer service. The flywheel looks really well made. My engine is in TX, so I do not have any performance feedback.

Did you order one? If you do not know, please do not "flame" one of the few reputable 7 shops around.

Well said.

I bought a 8.5# flywheel + 6-puck ACT HD clutch package from SR a few years back. Included everything (counterweight, grade 8 bolts, everything). First class experience all the way, good stuff, quick shipment, etc... No before/after on the dyno for power pickup, but the motor revs up&down noticably quicker. I ran the 6-puck on the street for 3 years in Atlanta and never stalled it (read: not flat ground) - very streetable imo.

If you're unsure about what's included, call Ray and ask. If you're still unclear, ask for a packing list. Post it, and see if everyone agrees that everything is there...

Rpeck, I've never seen or heard of anyone shipping a flywheel without a starter ring gear already installed. Maybe to a machine shop???

Rxmfn7, fwit, I've been told a light flywheel wont help your drag times, and it may hurt your 60' times as revs drop more at launch w/o the extra rotating mass. My V-8 friends say, unless you're making BIG hp/tq (read V-8 + power adder - roughly 6.5 or better in an 1/8 mile) you need the 60' time more than you need the extra power at the far end.

Here's some pics.

First off you can kiss my ***. Second I sugested calling them to be sure, But I am posotive I spoke with them about that flywheel .... and if they don't distinguish between S4 & S5 flywheels there is a fukin problem, cause they don't use the same couter weight. Third they don't even tell you what brand it is. It all goes back to the ole philosophy that nothing good is cheap. You get what you pay for.

Do a search you will find at least 2 people I have seen crying on this forum cause they ordered a cheapy flywheel that did not have the ring gear.

Thanks for being an embarassment to the forum.

"and if they don't distinguish between S4 & S5 flywheels there is a fukin problem, cause they don't use the same couter weight."

There is no difference between the aftermarket flywheels. The counterweight is a seperate piece.

"Third they don't even tell you what brand it is."

It's SR Motorsports. If they don't want to tell you that Joe-Bob made it, so what? It does what they say it will do and they stand behind it. You need to do less posting and more reading.

Well, i have got my chromemoly lightened flywheel from Australia without teeths. I was confused first days, but once i was told i have to swap ring gear from stock flywheel, i took flywheels to my neighbor (he got acetylen torch) and swapping was matter of half hour.....
