Springs on a vert

Is there any reason I wouldn't want to use the RB springs from my hardtop 7 on my vert when I get it?

well yes. The vert weights a little more so RB added a larger spring rate for the vert ones they sell. If you have not paid for them yet don't. I have all RB stuff and its over rated. I am getting a ground control coil over set to mount on my agx struts. Its a few dollars more but being able to lower the car to the exact height front and back is priceless. I also am doing this because I want to run larger tires and this will save me money if I order a 275 rear tire and it wont rub and waste my money. You will find with a second gen ever time you try to find a cheaper way out it comes back to bite you and you end up buy stuff twice.

for it being overrated, you sure have given them a boat load of money per your signature. For a daily driver, what you describe is desirable. for an autox car, maybe not.

For a daily driver I am not sure but I still would go with coils the first time then if you get a spring that is to hard for the street use you can order another from the eibach catalog with a softer spring rate.

And yes I bought a all their suspension stuff because the suspension is the best mod you will do on your 7. A fresh upgraded suspension makes the car feel faster than any bolt on you will do. And another thing RB will not tell you is the upgraded RB sways are just stock vert sways so don't throw your money away like I did on that. Endlinks are needed but let them keep the sways

so the new sway bars in the vert kit are just new stock vert sways - meaning zero improvement?

yes zero improvement for us vert guys. Replacing the end kinks will but they sell those separate. I found huge improvement with a front and rear ebay strut bar. The rear bar has to be trimmed and the one hole redrilled but they help alot. F $20 R $15 sounded good to me

What's the point? The vert is slow anyway unless you drop a TII or LS1 in it.

What an idiot. Let's play a game. You ask me "How fast can I make my car go?" I answer "How much money do you want to spend"

That simple principle applies to ANY car. Now that your not so STUPID, why whould anybody fix up a vert when there are faster cars out there. Why would you fix up any 7 when there are faster cars out there. EVEN your 7 with the LS1 "dropped" in it will be beaten by another car. So why?????

The only reason I was doing this is because I have the springs laying around so I figured why not.

Noooo, Norcal, Not you!!! My point is you have every right to modify your 7 any way you please without being questioned by anyone. Homebrewer is being a dick by questioning why you would mod a Vert, when Verts are so slow, (inhale) and as a Vert owner myself I took offense to it. You should put as much into your Vert as you feel confortable with. Sorry for the miscommunication. I should have been clear but I was tying to be nice and not flame too harshly.

^^ I'm with J here- you will never be the fastest car out there. We just want to improve the car we love (in my case, the "slow *** vert") and are already driving. If you question that, you really have no reason to be on this forum.

The point is these cars were made for handling not drag srip performance. So when you improve handling you can go faster into turns and breakless then the guy you are racing and this intern makes you faster. If you don't believe this just drop by a SCCA race and watch the miatas rule the track.

One problem with some people is they have no history to draw on and I'll explain.

Bob "Huricane" Hannah went on a multi year winning spree for Suzuki back in the REAL Motocross heydays of the late 70s. What was the secret?? The Suzuki was under powered in HP when compared to the Hondas, Yamahas and Kawasakis. The secret was weight and suspension. Two cataogories that none of the other three were concerned with at the time. Hurricane could 'control' his bike much easier than the competitions and during the course of a race he would have to pass the other bikes (after NOT getting the holeshot in other words loosing the dragrace that begins every MX race) and then he would ride off into the sunset straight to the winners podium to claim the trophy.

How does this relate to you??? Simple, control means greater speeds.

Like Bukwild said go out to the track and watch 2nd Gens pass up many cars that out power them.

I believe Homebrew did a flame and run - especially after several well tought out accurate responses killed his juvi remark.
