Spoiled boy-Blown Engine
OK i had the beast out this morning running and i am pretty sure the engine is blown.
I really need replys to this thread with yur opinion and advice please.
She is having a HARD HARD time idling and when i drop off the gas from above 1500 rpm's she dies. I drove her around the block with my mad tricky shifting skills. anyway she sputters and caughs when i try to smoke the tires off in 1st. there is just not enough power coming from this car.
I recently put the mazdatrix dual exhaust on her and here are some things i noticed. The rear rotor did not make its side of the exhaust as hot. the muffler on that side was very cool compared to the front rotors muffler. The stainless steel tubing on the front rotor had a very noticible color change. to the point where you see a bunch of colors when you look at it in the light. the rear rotors was not like this.
I took out all of the spark plus and cranked it so i could see what the pattern of the rotors was and it went with 1 being front and 2 being the rear like this. 1,1,2,1,1,2,1,1 and so on in that pattern.
So thanks for your help everyone and please list what I could be doing wrong or if there may be a slight mechanical oversight. Otherwise please tell me the telltale signals of it being blown.
Thanks in a hard time,
Matt

Okay, when you do the poor man's compression test, pull either spark plug on the front rotor and crank the engine. Be sure to take out the EGI fuse before doing this. You should get 3 even whooshes. Do the same for the rear rotor. If you get WHOOSH whoosh whoosh then you have a blown motor.
When was the last time you changed your spark plugs? My FC did this intemitently, and eventually wouldn't start one day. I changed the plugs and the bitch fired right up!

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Definitely sounds blown, but get teh $25 autozone tester to be sure...the instructions for the test above are also good.
Let me know if I can help you with a new engine.
Oh, and as for telltale sounds of a blown engine, best one for me is that it starts like a lawnmower, adn runslike one too. Plus, when theyre blown, you can usually let it sit at 2krpm, floor the gas, and wait about 5 seconds to climb to redline, if it will at all. About 80mph is max speed on a blown engine too.

FACK. 1st rotor was great. 2nd rotor whoosh....... .......... ........... whoosh. **** :-( looks like my exhaust will have to wait some time until i get a new engine or somthing :-( i am sad now and will need to wait until spring break till i have the money to get her a new engine i think.
anybody think i could try to ATF it?? i know it's very very doubtful but is it worth a try? and now i should start looking for an engine. thanks for everyone's help by the way too.
