Splicing Question

I have a bad connector on my driver side window and I want to replace it with another connector that I pulled off of a donor harness. I've never spliced wiring before, so where do I start and what is the safest and most efficient method to do so? I have to get this window down.

cut both plugs off, leave a little wire on the new connector, solder them together and shrink wrap over the solder (i forget what the covering is called). you heat it and it will shrink down and cover the spliced wiring.

Heat shrink Tubing that can be had at RadioShack or Home Depot maybe. Slip it on the wire BEFORE you solder the two pieces together. Just in case.

Get a wire plug puller tool. It has a bunch of prongs on it. You find the right prong, stick it in the back side of the plug where the wire goes into the plug, then pull the wire right out. Then put your new wire in there + you can use the same plug.

Or do the solder, shrink wrap routine. That works too.

Oppps. My bad. Yeah. If your just replacing the plastic plug, you can depin all the wires in the present plug and install them in the new plug. You can use something like a jewlers common screwdriver to depress the plastic tongue in the sockets of the plug, and at the same time pull the wire out. No cutting required. Sorry 'bout that.

Yeah that's what it's called. I couldn't think of the correct name.

Where can I pick up one of these tools? Is it possibly an autozone kind of thing?
