Speedometer wiggles under 60mph

Just replaced the speedometer cable on my '90 'vert (with '88 engine and transmission). I used a NAPA branded cable. Now, the needle wiggles fiercely at speeds below 62mph. Anything above that, the needle is rock solid.

Did I not secure the cable well enough? Maybe I over tightened the cable to the trans? Does the cable need a couple hundred miles to break-in? Or... is my cable a POS and I should go buy the OEM cable?

I'm going POS, but I'm not sure because I've never had to replace one

did it do it before?

I think I may have prematurely panicked. I've put about 200mi on it. Below 30 is solid, 30-50 has a slight shimmy, 50-60 is continues to be wild, and 60+ is still rock steady.

I think it may have just been stiff since it was wound up in a box for who-knows-how-long.

I think it's the gauge, not the cable.
