Speedometer Gears

Anyone have information on the speedometer gears for 2nd gens? I purchased a car that had a transmission change - the speedometer if off by about 10-15 MPH. Looking to see about swapping the gear or something.

Don't all N/As have the same and then the turbo trannys are different because they have different speedos?
Could also be caused by a different rearend and/or wheels and tires.

speedos are not off by a set number of mph, they are off by a percentage....the faster you go the more your speedo will misread.

Try swapping the gear that drives the speedometer cable. Its in the transmission. One bolt I think. Swap b/t the transmission you took out and the one you have now. Not talking about the speedometer gauge. Talking about the gear in the transmission that drives the speedometer cable.

Thanks for the link Hailers.....

Had all the info I needed. My tire size is stock and the rear end has never been changed. Original gauge cluster is also in it. That only leaves the spedo gear in the trans. The trans was swapped out so I would bet it came from a convertible with a 19 tooth gear rather than the 20 tooth I need.

I have the same problem one of my 87's. At one time I changed out the combination meter. I did not pay attention to what type car it came from.
