Angry Speedo beeping about 100km/h

Hi everyone. I'm a brand spanking newbie to this forum, and i have a problem with my series 4 rx7.
When the speed on the speedo rises above about 105km/h a beeping noise sounds and stays beeping as long as the speed is above 105km.
this is not really a problem with city driving, but i do a lot of highway driving, so there is constantly a beeping noise. A couple of months ago i went on a road trip, 1300km long and the beeping drove me CRAZY!!.

Do any of you guys have a fix for this problem?

P.S. I live in Australia, and the rx7 was imported from Japan about 5 years ago, and is basically stock, and has a series 5 engine that was just put in (the beeping was around both before and after the new engine was put in)

I did a searh for a solution but i couln't find one, could this be because the US rx's dont had this anoying feature built in?

Thanks for your help

im sure the problem is with the speedo cable or something...maybe when they swapped the engine the plugs near the tranny got misplaced

Don't Japanese cars have a beeper like that to remind you that you're breaking the law or something retarded like that? But, 105km/h = ~65mp/h and I thought it didn't kick in until about 90-1000mp/h.

Bingo!, retarded japanese anti-speeding feature. but with freeways with a 110km limit it gets really anoying. it does kick in at about 105km and really suck.
does anyone have any ideas on how do disconnect it, or disable it, or which wires you need to yank out

remove the screw from the back of the gauge cluster to disable that.

that's it, just one little screw?
so the gauge cluster needs to come out first right?

Icemark if you could give me some more details about exactly how it do it, and exactly where the screw is it would be extremely helpful 'cause i'm not the most mechanically minded person around.

If you've ever watched Initial D, you'd notice that the main character's Hachiroku does this too... heheh.

And the speed limit is 80 kph, even on the freeway, so 100 is breaking the law, although that seems to really be average speed for drivers.. Well, one guy in a Supra I rode with went to about 140...

Newer cars seem to not have this "feature".

Just find whatever's making the noise (like a small speaker), and cut it out.

I wouldn't be surprised if you had a 180 kph speed cut, too.

Before cutting or disabling any buzzer: Make sure it isn't used for other warning sensors.

i.e. coolant, oil or temp.

All of which are even more critical to have working 'at speed'.

I remember a 64 Buick I rode in that had a speed buzzer you could set. Had a little **** at the speedo with another mini needle. You set the needle where ever you wanted it to go off.

This was of course long before radar detectors.

If you want your car annoying the hell out of you when you're going past 60, then maybe.
