Speed Governor

I had origionally intended to have MD Racing re-program my ECU. It boasted quite a bit of gains, and seemed like a good Idea.

When I found out noone really does that anymore, I looked into the S-AFC, and I think that's the route I'm headed ( After all, most of the functions of the computer are just modding the fuel map )... HOWEVER...

What do you do about the speed governer? Is it still there? Any way to get rid of it? Thanks.

Yep, It's set at 100mph. Anyone who can go past that has an electrical problem, probably a ground or cold solder joint.
What's that? Everyone can go past that? Big surpise...

j/k.

bwahahahaah.....Bambam had me going for the first sentence. I was thinking "Hey, I got my TII up to 120 on the way home from work today....what's up?" Then I finished reading his post and came to the conclusion that I should probably stop drinking the alcohol now. Yeah, no speed governor.

I agree that there is now governer on the coupes, but I have heard that the verts have one at 124mph. I have only had my vert up to 120mph so I don't know for sure. Dose anyone else?

You guys are wrong, in Japan they are all limited to 112MPH, but there is no speed governor on any North American models.

But if you got a Japanese ECU without a new chip installed then you could have a governor (like if you did a Jspec conversion and got the ECU).

Yeah, or you might blow the welds on the manifold. Or your spiffy diamond-tread aluminum floorboard might fall off (????- he should probably have had a word with the shop that installed those). But its all good- you can start yelling at your laptop like it's R2-freakin-D2 and then shut it. That'll fix everything.

Lightened flywheels lower your top speed. With a stock flywheel, I would take it to 135mph in 4th and it would still be pulling. After the lightened flywheel I max out at 125mph in 4th. Thats why I said my flywheel was my speed governor. :P:

Nope. They only alter the rotational inertia of the engine, which has no effect on how it makes power.

When you say "max out", you mean redline? If you can't even reach redline in 4th, I think you broke something...
