Speed Bleeder size question...

I'm gonna buy some speed bleeders online, since I hate having to find someone to help me bleed them and all the hassle of that.

But I'm not sure which size to order for the front brakes... I have the 4 piston calipers from a 90 GXL, which should be the same as the TII brakes. On their site they say to order the SB7100 for both front and rear for all RX-7s 86-91 but SB8100 for the fronts in a TII...

So did they just not understand there were cars with TII brakes that weren't TIIs or did the N/A 4pot calipers still end up with different threads?

i think they are all 7mm with a 1.00 thread
i know you need an 8mm wrench to bleed, i mean the actual thread width is 7mm if i remember correctly

Is that on an N/A or a TII?

'Cause after you said that I realized that's what the serial is for... 8mm1.00 thread or 7mm1.00 thread...

I guess I'll let everyone know when I get them, I ordered the bigger ones for the front (8mm) because I had a slight memory of trying to bleed the brakes and realizing I needed a 9mm wrench for the fronts and an 8mm for the backs.. so I went off that.

BTW what did you mean you have one for me SleeperRX?

You were correct in ordering ones for a TII. When I ordered mine for my old N/A, I didn't think about it, and ended up getting the wrong ones for the front. Once I called them, they said that they should have contacted me to clarify which front brakes I had. They shipped the right ones and I just returned the wrong ones.

I just pumped a big bottle of brake fluid through my brake system by myself.

Put your clear tube on the bleeder and into a clear jar with a 1/4 inch of brake fluid in it. Block your brake pedal down with a board braced between it and the steering wheel. Crack the bleeder for just a bit. Repeat till the air is out of the tube. From then on you can pump the pedal to your hearts content...or you run out of fluid in the reservoir. No way will air get back in unless your tube is loose on the bleeder. FK

I've done that, I race... I need a very predictable pedal with no play, sure I've bleed them the way you said (actually one better... I have the pressure pump) but nothing could beat the way these speed bleeders work, plus the ease they make (no having to run back and forth all over the car) is more than worth 7$/wheel.

IT didn't matter that they messed up, it mattered that they didn't offer to resovle the issue.
