Special tools for rebuild?

I am going to rebuild my motor, I just want to know what special tool I will need or want to have when doing the rebuild. I know that people recommend the adapter plate to mount onto an engine stand, but I think I can do w/o it. Thats all I can think of.

I just pulled mine apart and having the adapter plate is nice. you can get it off ebay for like $75 shipped from pinnapple racing. I didn't have the dowel pin remover but mine slid right out so I didn't need it.

Things that make life alot easy.... The adapter helps alot you dont want to work on the floor, The RB flywheel tool damn thing works wonders with a steel hammer. Buy a pilot bearing puller from autozone(like 20 bucks for the just the head pc) and file it down pain in the *** but alot cheaper then 150 from atkins. the dowel pin puller you can ghetto rig i used a real long bent thread screw from home depot cost me 2 bucks granted im not reusing the dowel pins. ive heard you can use the studs to remove them worked for a few of mine but some were stubborn. O the flywheel stopper great tool that helps alot when you have no compression. thats about all i can think about for now

there is no special tools needed, the standard head on engine stands works fine if you set it up properly. the only thing close to specialty tools would be the impact gun for the e-shaft nut and bolt and measuring tools.

The RB flywheel wrench is all I can think of, its really not that hard at all. Just make sure to get that wrench (54mm or 2 1/8th)

Like DJ said, the wrench for the flywheel nut. I got the wrench and stop bar from Mazdatrix and have done it enough times they paid for themselves.

A good gear puller to get the flywheel ofo of the eccentric shaft. If it has never been off, you aren't just going to tap on it with a hammer and it will fall off.

Of all the rebulds I have done (8 or 10) I have never used a stand or adapter. I have always just set it on a five gallon pail with the front housing on the bottom. It works.

Your right hell need to beat the **** out of it with a hammer to get it off. Dont take lightly to the flywheel you have to beat the **** out of it. Or get a puller......

If I remember right, a motor mount bolt works as a dowel pin remover.
