Speakers cut out after 20min.
So I have an aftermarket CD player in my car. It's power output is small, 15Wx4. But after 20min of driving the speakers volume fluxuates and gets staticy. The only thing I can figure out is that the factory amps are getting hot after 20min and causing this.
If that's the case then I shall yell "dammit" and go around driving fast trying to find a cat in frustration. I do NOT want to re-wire my speakers.

Did you pay less than 100$ for it? Was it used? I'd blame the internal amps myself...if it says 15x4 on the front, that may be the max output, not RMS power. You could always wire the speakers in series (like batteries in a flashlight) and check the documentation for wiring it up to be a 2 channel. So you'd be pulling 16 ohm from each side .
FR BR Total Ohm
8 + 8 = 16
FL BL
8 + 8 = 16

If you are using a high power deck and have not wired past the factory amps you are burning up the inputs to the factory amps as well as the outputs from your high powered radio.
I don't know how many times I have warned/told people about this on this forum. What is it that people don't understand?
The factory amps are designed for a 7 to 10 watt RMS input. This means a radio at the absolute maximum power output of 15 watts PEAK. A radio cranked up and claiming 15 watts X 4 is too much..
If you or your installer is trying to save a couple of bucks and not wiring past the factory amps, in the long run you will need to replace the amps, and probably the radio.
To fix the problem install the radio correctly by wiring the high powered radio directly to the speakers, bypassing the factory amps! You can do that at the amps, just jump the wires and unplug the amp.
