I fit 6.5'' in the doors and in the rears. You will most likely need a spacer for the door or it will hit the window track. If you use 6.5s in the rear you will probably have to do some custom bracket to make them fit.
This is what I had to do in my old 91 and they were infinity kappa 6.5 inch speakers by the way.

Infinity does market their 6 inch speakers as 6 1/2 inch and their 6.5 inch speakers as 7 inch.

for my '91

I have oversized 6-1/2" in the door, and as mentioned they required a 5/8" spacer ring (3/4" was too much).
1" tweeters up on the dash in the corners and 4" speakers in the stock dash locations. Out back for rear fill I replaced the tower speakers with 6-1/2" coaxials.

Comming soon, a 10" sub mounted in the spare tire compartment to fill out that bottom end

s4 door speakers

I think the stock speaker size on s4's is 5.25 so i picked up some fosgates and put them in. Ive got a pair of 6.5 pioneers and test fit them before and they were too deep(hit the window) but they seemed to fit in the hole circumference wise.
ive got a s4 vert and would like to put the larger pioneers in....so i can get spacers from best buy or something like that?

with the spacers will they fit behing the stock speaker grill ( the square one just above the door armrest)??? It looks to be too small.....

Thanks.

The dash speakers are by where your knees are if you have them, by the hood pull latch and right under the glovebox.

Also, I would remove the stock grille and use the grilles that come with the speakers.

since we are on the subject of speakers im going to be putting infinity 6000cs 270 watt 6 1/2 inch speakers in the doors since im doing this would it be a good idea to take out the speakers in the dash since you wont be able to hear them over the door speakers also when i put in subs would it be best to take out the rear speakers because you wont be able to tell they are on

IMHO id take them out. They'll probably make you infinitys sound worse. Are you new speakers 1 piece or components?

I bought cheap walmark speakers and made them vit my vert...the one on the driver side dash doesn't fit and i haven't decided what i'm going to do about it yet. I'll probably go buy smaller speakers soon.

Are they these: 1 piece total, a woofer with a tweeter (or two) in the middle of it:

Or these: Components usually a midbass, tweeter, and crossover:

I also found out the spacer rings I got from best buy do not work, because the ring is closer to 7 inches around, and because of crevasses moulded into the door does not sit evenly so youll need some other alternative. Mine fit fine in the door, and theyre 2 1/16 deep. So if you stay < 2in deep you'll be ok.

When I went to the local stereo shop they stuck in the 6.5 speakers and left the stock grill on. He said the new one would not fit. The speakers sound Great! I have a 10" sub in the trunk and I think I am going to upgrade the headrest speakers and add another amp to drive them. Anyone have the lowdown on taking the headrest apart?

Talking

I fit 6" speakers in my dash. Don't ask questions.

P.S. I have those infinities with the tweeters in the middle pictured above. They rock.
