Spark Plugs

Had an interesting experiance today... I replaced the spark plugs with new nkg plugs about 2 weeks ago, still trying to get it to crank for the first time. So anyhow, today I was gonna try the atf trick. Two of the plugs I took out, were perfectly the perfectly clean, new plugs I installed 2 weeks ago. Two looked like they had mud on them. It wipped right off with a clean rag though. If your facing your engine from the side with Mazda 13B right directly in front of you, the two dirty plugs would be the upper and lower plugs on the right hand side.

Given what the previous owner has told me, I dont think this car is anything more than sevearly flooded... But what do you guys think considering this new twist? Would these two plugs being gunked up keep it from starting?

Having crap all over the spark plugs would definately hinder their sparkablilty. You said it looked like mud? Odd. Was the car in running condition before you changed the spark plugs?

The only thing I can think of that would resemble mud at all would be rusty water/coolant inside the engine. More than likely from a blown coolant seal.

Well... after performing the atf trick, I still got nothing, but the same plugs keep getting dirty. The right hand side top plug comes out looking pretty dirty, and the right hand side lower plug comes out only slightly cleaner than before.

Any other ideas on this?

White: any way to check for a blown coolant seal?

This whole proccess might be easier if any of my gagues or idiot lights worked lol

Sounds almost like the brown stuff could be oil.

Clean the plugs and then tow the car down a hill and pop the clutch in 2nd or 3rd gear around 20 mph. This may not start the car but it may help clear some of the **** out of the motor.

mabey if you turned the car over without the plugs in it, you could get some of the stuff to come out of the plug holes, and clean it up a little.

often when you mix antifreeze and oil togather it looks like mud. If this is happening inside your enigne your gonig to need a rebuild.

change your oil if the old oil looks like mud or has anything other than oil in with it your probable looking at bad oil seals or bad coolent seals either way you need a rebuild.

My car ran fine since i got her, but a couple of weeks ago i went out and tried to start her up, nothing, only engine cranking, my guess was that it was flooded, so i decided to change all the fluids before i tried pulling the fuse.

I changed my oil and plugs yesterday, I've got the same 'gunk' on my plugs as well. the only difference is that instead of the two top and bottom ones on the right side being dirty, mine are the two on the left side. Drained oil was okay looking, looked liked it supposed to after months of driving.

I'll try to upload some pix of the plugs as soon as my camera's memory card is wiped.

haven't tried to start her up yet, just woke up...

hope it isn't a blown coolant seal....
