Sound in a Gen2

Yes Yes I know there is a seprate form for this, but since this is the only one I keep a close eye on I thought I would ask here.

Everyone knows the stock sound system stinks in Gen 2s but I had a question....

My brother told me its not just the speakers that suck but the wiring going into and out of the speakers, so it would be a huge and expensive project to make it sound decent...Anyone think otherwise?

Thanks

I did my wiring on mine. I have a mp3 cd player which is connected to two amps. one of the amps are connected to the tower and door speakers and the other one is connected to a bass box.
cost about 100 dollars in cables. I removed the old cable and installed new ones.

Its not that hard to rewire the stereo system.

TII Sound system...

I'd never put a system in a car. BUt I had a basic understanding and It was easy to change all the little wires to bigger ones. It made a huge difference. It only took me like 6 hours, to convert my 7 to bigger speaker wire, ad addition speakers, and put my amp and box in and I'd had never seen some one do it or anything. SO It was simple.

Yah, its not too difficult, if you know the right people you could probably get it done for 50 bucks worth of wiring

OK, I have a pretty gutted interior and I am sick of all the wires all over. Has anyone rewired the whole car (not the engine bay and under dash) before? It seems like all i would need is sound system, hatch light, and the tail lamp units.

It all makes a difference. Its just a matter of how much quality your looking for. Wire size and quaility would be the last thing I would upgrade. I'd start with headunit, speakers, amps. In that order.

Wiring does make a difference, but if you still have the stock speakers and deck, then there's no point. If you move to an aftermarket deck and speakers, then rewiring is definitly necessary. It's not that hard really. Just follow your new wires along the old ones, zip tie in place. Be careful when removing and reinstalling trim as it can easily break.

a difference, yes!

a big difference, no.

once you have all of the regular stuff done, and you are looking for even better sound, then do the wires, otherwise not really neccessary in my experience.

Wiring helps if your gonna put in a good HU and speakers I normally wouldnt rush into mine but the previous owner did it already and the rear speakers cut out all the time. just if you change the head unit bypass the stock amps, they were not built to take the 50 watt input that most newer decks will give them
