this a good deal?

wassup guys. i am currently looking at a 91 rx7 turbo II with 120000 miles, it is red and is extremely clean inside and out. by far the cleanest fc ive ever seen. BUT its motor is blown. the motor has been street ported which is kind of worthless to me since im guessing im going to need new rotor housing anyways. its only mods are rebuilt injectors, drilled rotor, and eibach springs and tokico blue shocks. he said he dyoed at 300 a while back..boosting 12 lbs. is this even possible..he didnt mention wat mods it had so im assuming all he had was the street port. and i guess a mbc cuz i did not see any ebc. everything else is stock..but remeber this is EXTREMELY CLEAN. garage kept. interior is great cond..except ripped driver seat. he is asking 3000...wat do u guys htink..i will have to tow it to a shop in the area and get a rebuild. im in the LA area so i was thinking about ROTECH if any one has heard of them.. any feedback is appreciated. thanks

I wouldn't pay more than $1000 for a FC with a blown motor.

Heck, you can get a perfectly fine running S4 FC Turbo for $3000.

The Blue Book on a 91 TII in "Excellent" condition is about $4,000 even. That ripped seat would not qualify for the "Excellent" condition, but we will use the $4,000 figure anyway...

$4,000 Blue Book
-$2,200 Engine Rebuild
= $1,800 Sale Price

Make sure that you deduct for the ripped seat, and anything else that doesn't work (electric sunroof, power antenna, power windows, etc.). You can add value for the upgraded suspension parts if you like, but make sure that you add what they are worth to you, not to the current owner.

BTW, how do you know that the transmission, driveshaft, rear end, brakes, wheel bearings, water pump, etc., all work properly if you can't take the car for a test drive? I would go along with Icemark and give a max of $1,000 for a bundle of shiny parts that may or may not work. If the owner rebuilds the engine, and I could test drive the car and take it for a check-up at my local Mazda performance shop, then I would consider paying the Blue Book value.

I sold my 88 TII with RB FCD, HKS VBC boost controller, HKS Supermegaflow intake, HKS Turbo Timer, Autometer Boost Gauge, CFDF clutch, custom catback exhaust, and many new and like-new OEM parts for $2,000 over a year ago, and it's still running just fine for the new owner.

Damn 3 and 2k. I need to buy from guys like you.
If a TII pops up for sale it either has a blown engine/high mileage or they want 5k at the least for it in Arizona. Even the ones with 120k miles wanted 4-5k

Also,Kinda off subject. How long do the original Turbo motors go till? I know N/A's go to about 175-200k.
I heard TII go to about 100-120k
120k being very well kept

think of what your about to do. you are about to give a guy 3000 dollars for an undrivable hunk of metal. Sure it has potential, but that potential also comes at a price. And whats to say somehting else isn't broken? The fact that this guy says it's a steal? Well chances are this guy is a complete stranger, so how good is his word? Bottomline, it is your decision. But, if you wanna get ripped off i've got a car i'm trying to sell.

If the motor is blown start it up and take it for a test drive. It will start. Its probably just flooded if it wont now.
