Um, headers on a TII? That really is not possible, unless he put an upgraded turbo manifold. N/As have headers. And no, a straight pipe is VERY LOUD! Go take off the downpipe, cat, and mufflers, basically, just pull off the exhaust. I did this once, and I got complaints for people over 4 blocks away! A straight pipe will get you pulled over more than smoking pot while flipping off a cop! But it sure sounds MEAN!

A turbo will quiet down the exhaust note a lot over an NA. Its still loud on open exhaust though.

Just had my 3" exhaust sys. completed on my '88 TII and man, It's loud!! I'm sure many neighbors will get pissed at me now, that's if they're not already... I know that too loud is not alwayz good especially when cops are around, but like Rico said, it does sound mean and I like it!!

That guy must have or is wanting to get serious horsepower of out that thing if he needs a 4 inch exhaust. My advice is to bring some earplpugs when you go drive it, or you might go deaf after a little while.

If your only mod is that exhaust, then I'd like to see a little mesh screen on the end of it in order to catch all those pieces of apex seal that are bound to fly out.

I have an 87TII with a straigt pipe, and its not that loud. I think that most straight pipes are 2.5-3" Go to rx7.com and look at the ID of that one.

Ae you talking about a down or midpipe or a full straight exhaust? If you think the latter isn't loud, your probably going to deaf from it.

i have a fully open exhaust. not a single cat on my car. 2.5 inch all the way. its loud when you get down on it but its not that bad when cruising around. i can talk to people inside the car with the windows down and not yell at them. its not that bad really. but the 87-88 turbos are louder than the 89-91 turbos. i have the latter. once i did have an 87 turbo with the same exact setup on the car. it was louder but it wasnt too god-awful loud.
