Talking Soon to be an RX7 owner... Shopping advice needed.

Ok... I'm not mechanically inclined to the point where I can look at an engine and tell you everything about it. Just so thats out of the way.

I came across a modded (dual exhaust, rims, drop kit, new tires, <- thats all I can tell from a glance) 1990 RX 7 and was thinking of buying it. The guy wants $3400 minus the cost for about $500 in repairs that I will have to make, so ~2900-3000 for the car. This seems like a good deal to me. How does that sound to you guys?

Also, I don't know whether they made a turbo version of the '90, but if they did, how do I tell whether this is one or not? That would obviously be a bonus.

Thanks in advance for your advice...

well that's really not a bad price if the car is in good condition. It really just depends on the engine.Have a compression check done on it at the mazda dealer.or if you know anyone that can do it for you.well worth the money it will save you if it has low compression and you find out later. Also they did build a turbo in 90 and 91.just look for the turbo and intercooler should be on top of the engine. It what be that hard to figger out.

Thats what I thought... And no, it doesn't have a scoop. I'm actually leaning toward a '94 3rd now. Rebuilt engine and new turbos. I just can't get over how awesome they look and I can afford one if I stretch my budget....

Thanks for the comments all...
