Sometimes won't start problem

'87 N/A stock: Sometimes it starts right up. Sometimes I turn the key and...nothing, not even a click. Took it to the local Advance Auto and had the battery and alternator checked. Both fine. When it won't start, if I roll it off and pop the clutch, it starts right up. Before I take it to the shop, I would like to know what might be causing this. And if it's a simple fix, maybe I won't have to take it to the shop.

Or it could be the ignition switch. Mine has the same problem - sometimes it fires right up, other times I have to re-try it 5 or 6 times for it to register.

ok guys. 2nd gen rx7s have no fuel cut off switch and flood out easily if you are not letting your car warm up to normal operating tempurature. i.e. if you move the car from the sidewalk to the garage it will flood. if you leave it in the on position it will flood. Im not saying that is necessarily what is is but it is the first thing I always check.

It's a no turn over problem, i.e. the motor doesn't spin at all, so it rules out a flooding problem.

Though most other times you would be correct.
