I figured out today, that if you hook up a Snap-On (AC) battery charger, that your fuel injectors (primary) will run, if you have the key in the on position. This = no beuno for obvious reasons. Needless to say, pull your injector fuse if you intend on using a battery charger while trying to troubleshoot your car with the car on.
I also learned that yet again, you should check simple ***** first. I had a funky no crank no start problem with my FC, and the warning lights would flicker off and on. I didnt think to check the battery terminals, though I did check the fuse block.
Anyway, its fixed now. Just thought id share a little tidbit of info that I learned today. Maybe save someone else the hassle.

Doing that is actually VERY bad for the car. The charger is providing a pulsing DC signal. It's quickly turning the car on and off. Not good for basically everything electrical. You should never connect a battery charger unless you first disconnect the battery for this reason.

I figured it probably wasnt good, so I disconnected it after I found where the noise was coming from, and unlike NZvert suggests, it was the fuel injectors.
The reason I know this, is I unplugged the injector fuse, and viola. Noise went away. Also, the sonofabitch was flooded, and produced a nice blue cloud when started. The injectors can fire at any time, all they need is the signal to open and close, a battery charger could create the frequency needed to open/close them. The FUEL PUMP however should only work when the engine is running. I know the smell of gas, and thats the smell that was there after it happeend.
Eitherway, just thought I'd share something that happened. Maybe save some of you the wonder, and possible damage of doing it yourself.

Not sure on your setup...but the smell of fuel could have been leaking injectors. If you're sure you heard the clicking from the injectors, something's weird with the fuel system. I know the BAC valve tends to buzz/click with the ignition on, and so do various other solenoids and relays.
Also, for the fuel system to pressurize and supply those injectors, one of a few things has to happen: 1. previously mentioned - air flow meter switch inside when engine running, 2. start signal from ignition switch/ECU, 3. having the ignition on with the yellow fuel check connector (near the AF meter) jumpered.
