Someone tried to steal my car

yesterday my neighbor so pleasantly informed me that a week ago, he whatched a coulpe of tall white boys trying to breal into my car. he said one tryied to come in his bottem apartment window and then he got out a deer spotlight and shined it on them, then they took off. this just adds to my recent string of bad luck. i just moved to this area to attend PSU 2 months ago and since then, my apratment has burned down, someone is leaving me threats on my answering machine, and now someone wants my car. i cant help that my car looks good, but lay the **** off. thats crossing the line. my question is: what do you guys do for security? is there any alarm systems that are really worth it? i don;t know what to do, i can't afford to have my car stolen, i only have liability! any thing else as far as security? thanks a lot!!

Security? Hmm...So you live in an apartment complex? You need to complain and tell the complex they need to get security out there and possibly gates, extra lighting, etc. Then get a good alarm system with a paging unit to let you know when it goes off. And have the gun ready for them. Oh and if it was a serious problem I'd chain my dog to my car at night.

my setup is pretty failsafe. first i have an alarm with shock sensor, door, trunk, and hood sensors, with a loud *** siren. when it goes off i get paged with the alarm pager that tells me what sensor is set off. then for extra fun i got the mag tec 6000 installed( gives me 5% off insurance), it has a key chain transmitter, without the transmitter, you can't get anypower in the on position. it has a starter kill, a fuel pump kill, and a main ignition kill. only the mechanic that installed it knows how to disconnect it and it would still take him 45 min to diconnect it after i got paged and the neighborhood as been waken up. go ahead try to steal it, i come running with a big *** knife and bat.

When you park the car, pull the egi fuse. Tell no one except you. No thief will attempt to fix a car that will not start, and no one carrries spare fuses with them, let alone if they knew that's exactly what the problem was.

Kill.....

Kill them... that pretty much eliminates the possiblilty that they will attempt to steal from you again... also, take out their kidneys, liver and heart and sell them on the black market. You could prly get a haltech, REsuperG kit, nice system, etc... Im still bitter from my car being broken into yesterday.

Alot of people don't want your whole car, at least around here. Most of the time they just break in to see what they can get out of it.

Get a GOOD alarm system, and have somebody install it in a GOOD palce. Notice that I'm not saying professionaly, but in a good place. I know of places that just connect tha alarm, and place the module behind a kick panel, or underneath the steering wheel column

That's exactly what you don't want, have them install the module on "hard to get area (ex. behind the FC glove box, etc)

No need for a pager, unless you have a gun, and are willing to kil\injure somebody, and go to court (and probably loose the case ) Install a fuel cut switch, it is very easy to do, and will help somewhat against somebody stealing your car.

Last but not least, use some kind of device that lock your wheel! I know not all of these alternatives are bullet proof, but when you have them, it adds up to the safety of your car

Hope this helps!!

hey, thanks for all the great ideas! for the mean time i have been unscrewing the quick disconect on the battery terminal that is mounted behind my seat, i dont think that they would take the time to look there, but at least it will stall them. as for the alarm setup, how much does that mag tec 6000 setup cost, and where can i get one like that? thanks a lot!!

Why don't you just Install a Fuel Cut Switch? Wire It Into your Fuel Pump Relay. It's great for Flooding prevention and your car will go nowhere with the switch ON. Do a search. I posted a "How To".

Whoo! Hosabout a reality check. Packing a gun to prevent/stop a car theft is just plain stupid! The only time force is legally permitted is when your life or those of others is at stake. No court in this land will sanction an assult with or a death that occurs because someone is breaking into or attempting to steal your car. Their life will get you time in which event you better do a search in this forum on how to store your 7 for a long time cuz you simply will not be using it.

hmm, lets see, most sensible people would only use force by a weapon if your life is at stake. and if i was ever in that situation, i would not hesitate to act on it. its pretty easy for a car jacking to go bad, and if your ready, then why not, if anything a gun could be used to ward off a would-be thief. its pretty simple to get a permit to carry one.

ive heard of these alarm systems where they place part of the speaker that makes the alarm sound inside the car. It makes a piercing noise that is almost impossible to tolerate. (white noise i think) Does anyone know what that system is. Im bringing my car up to college and id like that. I doubt someone would steal my car, just steal the **** in it.

If they're any good, the theif will be long gone with your car before you get the front door when your pager goes off. However, most thieves aren't really any good. If you show up, most people will straighten up. If they really want your car, they will threaten your life, in which case force is legit. Of course, if you just feel like killing them for attempting to steal your car, you should make sure to have a very solid story ready, or bury the body very deep. Avoiding jail time is less expensive and more fun than storing your car.

Thats why you shoot to kill (noone to testify) and put a knife or other weapon in there hand right before you call the cops. Just make sure its not a knife that matches your kitchen set or somthing stupid like that. I don't give a **** what anyone else says I WILL kill someone for breaking into my car. Its the Darwin theroy .. survival of the fitest, and I don't want those type of mother ******* reproducing ..

Don’t get me wrong: I’m no animal. I am an educated man that works as a network technician for my local government. I own a legally registered .380 semi automatic hand gun; I keep it safely locked away in my house and only fire it at the shooting range. But my insurance will probably cover $4000 for my car if it was stolen, I have at least 10k into it.. And another 10k in my man hrs. of my labor. My cars are like my baby’s … I can’t stand the direction society is going in .. and if the risk you had to take to commit crimes was higher .. There would be less crime, that’s a given. Look China and places like that 10X the population 1/15th the crime. cause there laws are damn right scary, because of the consequences. If someone invades my home .. I have the right to shoot them if I feel threatened; if someone invades my car I give myself the right to use deadly force. There is no way in hell I will stand and watch someone steal 16k dollars of my hard earned money from me! They will die trying .. that’s all there is to it.

Right on 1000th post

Heh, I don't know about you, Rotormax, but there's just one little catch to the phrase "life at stake". To some of us, our cars are our lives. I know if I'm stuck on a jury where someone is being tried for killing someone who tried to steal their car, I'm in favor of the one whose name is on the title. I can't abide thieves, and the fact that one just nailed me doesn't help matters any. I just had a couple of Subs out of my '90 Ford Probe, shattering the back glass (which is about 2 feet wide by about 3 feet long) in the process, and they slashed the top on my RX. God help the person if I find out who it was, cuz the hospital might not be able to.

you better take the headlight, retracter, and ABS one out too, otherwise I just swap one of those into the egi slot

I havn't tryed playing with my AFC. but I'm sure I could change sensor types and it wouldn't start, or run very good. only take a few secs to do that

no way you could open your hood everytime you park... poeple will notice.

rig up your battery to a quick release and carry it with you when you leave your car.
